Mycorrhizal Test part 2 Day 5

Here are the  results of 5 days under the grow lights. Light is cut back to 12 hours a day. An additional 2000 ml of water are added to the tray and each was given a spray of their respective  treatments.

Mycorrhizal Test part 2 Day 1

This test was started on 8/8/2012 with store bought sunflowers and sweet corn. Seeds were split into four trays. The first tray, the seeds were inoculated with Nitro-Max from J&J Agri-products. The second tray was inoculated with both Nitro-Max and Mycorrhizal. The third tray was inoculated with Potter's Mix. The fourth tray was inoculated with Potter's Mix and Mycorrhizal. The grow medium is Eco-Coir (coconut husks) and the trays were each filled with 2000 ml of de-chlorinized water.

PROTECTING AGAINST MOSQUITO BITES COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE
According to the CDC, “more than one-third of the world’s population living in areas at risk for transmission, dengue infection is a leading cause of illness and death in the tropics and subtropics.” Also, “In 2010, an estimated 216 million cases of malaria occurred worldwide and 655,000 people died most (91%) in the African Region.” In 2011 there were 712 cases of West Nile Virus in the United States resulting in 43 fatalities. All of these diseases are carried by mosquitoes.
For many years, repellents’ containing DEET (N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide) have been the best, readily available device to protect against mosquitoes and other biting insects, and is still recommended by most experts as an effective repellent. While repellents with DEET have proven very effective, health concerns have arisen over the last several decades including fatalities related to exposure of DEET, many of which were young females. This leaves the question of what can be done to prevent bites from mosquitoes. A growing trend of outdoorsmen, hunters, fishermen, campers, and vacationers has been to use what is commonly referred to as a mosquito patch.
One very successful brand is AgraCo Technologies non-toxic Mosquito Patch. AgraCo’s Mosquito Patch is a small clear transdermal patch that contains 300 milligrams of vitamin B1. This is more than three times as much Vitamin B1 as the closest competitor.

The human body uses the portion of B1 it needs, and expels the rest.

This is not part of the test group, but they are the prior plants picked and measured from the three groups. Notice the feeder roots growing out of the bottom of the planter and spreading out into the petri dish.
The three groups are beginning to crowd the seedling containers, so on the 16th day of the test, the largest of each group were removed and replanted in a 3X6 rack and placed outside using store bought potting soil. Great care was taken to preserve hair and feeder roots  and to avoid disturbing the growing medium, as much as possible.
